Vehicle Wraps Pricing Guide

Colour-change wraps, commercial signage, and accent wraps — what each level typically costs in Australia and the film brands behind the quotes.

Vehicle wraps use a vinyl film applied over factory paint to change colour, add graphics, or protect underneath paint while keeping it original. The cost split is roughly 30% materials, 70% labour — a full colour-change wrap needs a skilled installer and 2–3 days in a clean studio.

Wraps last 5–7 years outdoors in Australian conditions, longer if the car is garaged. They peel off cleanly if the original paint was in good condition when installed.

What affects the price

Film brand & finish

3M 1080 and Avery SW900 sit at the premium end; Inozetek and KPMF are cost-effective mid-tier; no-name films should be avoided for long-term wraps.

Vehicle size & complexity

Dual-cab utes and 4WDs use 50–100% more film than sedans. Deep curves around wheel arches add hours.

Panel removal

Removing door handles, badges, lights, and bumpers gives a factory-clean result but adds labour. Some shops wrap around, which shortens longevity at the edges.

Paint prep

Wraps need perfectly clean, dry, well-bonded paint. Chipped or flaking panels need touch-up first.

Before you book — what to check

Wrap preserves, it doesn't fix

If the paint underneath has swirls, chips, or clearcoat damage, the wrap won't hide any of it — and may pull flaking clear off when removed.

Care is different to paint

Hand-wash only on most wraps. Automated brush washes and high-pressure jets near edges will lift corners. Avoid pH-aggressive chemicals.

Warranty depends on installer + film

Authorised 3M and Avery installers register the install for warranty. Film-only warranty doesn't cover workmanship issues like lifting edges.

Insurance disclosure

Most Australian insurers need to be notified about colour-change wraps — not doing so can void a claim.

Removal timing

Wraps that stay on past their rated life (especially matte) can bond harder and leave adhesive residue. Plan removal around the 5–7 year mark.
